Tales of the Epsilon Sector
“Listen bud, I don’t need to know where you got it or how. Show me your paperwork and tell me it’s legit.”
Gateway was the only world in the sector to warrant a Jump Gate. It was a hub for commerce within the sector and to the rest of the galaxy. When the Scream came, the lack of food production on the planet led to planet-wide rioting. The rich retreated to their rural compounds and built defence systems to protect themselves. When the situation did not improve, most starved to death. Outside, a band of traders began to create order from the chaos. They were able to secure food production and many of the production facilities on the planet. Slowly, the Republic of Gateway was formed, a trading hub for the worlds of the sector. They have maintained enough Spike Drive ships to discourage hostilities, but maintain their neutrality as much as possible. The Silver Concordium has their base of operations in Gateway. A guild of traders, explorers and others who ply their trade across the sector, hoping to strike it rich, or at least make their way up in the world. Depending on your viewpoint they are the lubricant that smooths the running of the sector, or opportunists, skimming their cut from everything and always looking for the bottom line.
Gateway maintains a revenue stream by selling Salvage Permits to people who wish to attempt to explore the abandoned compounds of the rich and worthy. The defence systems do not always let explorers return.
If it’s in the sector it can probably be found in and around Portal, the major space port on the planet. Crimson blasters, Orthodoxy iconography, Thassari S’sarin, even more exotic stuff, from the lesser worlds of the sector.
